About
the BLOG
Here’s more about the BLOG in terms of its purpose and backstory.
And of course, a quick description of REBEL SOULS.
What's it About?
In the big picture, this BLOG is about becoming Better Selves, creating Better Lives, and contributing to a Better World, because whether we live that way or not, these things are entirely interrelated. And while it’s far easier to ignore this complexity and reduce things down to one part and simple solutions, it’s just not helpful.
So, this BLOG is trying to hold the whole, which will mean some fumbling at times.
Each blog post is a bite-sized piece that supports becoming Better Selves, creating Better Lives, and contributing to a Better World that connects back to the whole.
Individual posts might: explore a topic, provide tips, propose a practice or principle to try out, offer book suggestions, look into some sobering statistics for reflection, delve into significant events during the year, share some stories and milestones, or present an activity or challenge to take on.
Why I Started It?
A search reveals that there are over 600 million blogs worldwide in 2025. So, why start another one?
For me, there were three main reasons.
1. I was truly tired of seeing so much simplistic content about complex problems, singular solutions that would supposedly fix most everything, and fast fixes that worked in three to five easy steps. The truth is that most problems have multiple potential causes some with deep roots which therefore need more sophisticated solutions that take time and effort to create lasting change.
2. I had been sitting, really sitting with understanding how it all works, how it’s related, why it matters, and how I could make a difference over quite a number of years. And while none of us can ever know the answer for sure, I came to believe that consciousness or what I call conscious relating and creating seemed to be the key to explaining and understanding it all.
It seemed to me that almost everything is about relating and creating.
Every thought. Every perception. Every belief. Every hope. Every big idea. Every uncertainty. Every intention. Every plan. Every learning. Every feeling. Every family. Every organization. Every policy. Every rule. Every decision. Every word expressed. Every response. Every action and reaction. Every misstep or mistake. Every regret. Every celebration. Every beginning. Every ending. Every purchase.
Every one of them is about how we relate and create, whether it’s within ourselves, with others, within our lives, or within the larger world. (And, what goes on in the larger world is a combined reflection of how we are all relating and creating, and how conscious it is).
Now, the fact that we may not be consciously engaged in the process of relating and creating does not take away from the truth that at the centre of almost everything is relating and creating.
So I wanted to explore this, expand it in myself, develop content about it, and create a place for others (REBEL SOULS) who were interested in or working on their conscious relating and creating.
3. Something within was nudging me to write, to be vulnerable, to take a risk, to share, to support, to serve, and to contribute to a more conscious world (in my small corner and hopefully yours).
When are Posts?
Posts are 2-3 times a month (with some breaks) typically on a Monday so we can lean into the week. There will sometimes be a grouping or series of posts as part of a larger theme (because change doesn’t usually stick after a single pass, and we are better able to make change when things are chunked down).
How I Hope It Helps?
My deepest hope is that the blog inspires the REBEL SOUL in myself and others and provides consistent, digestible, and concrete content that invites manageable reflection and change month after month to move us toward becoming Better Selves, creating Better Lives, and contributing to a Better World.
Carl
I highly recommend Carole based upon her helping me to address head-on, a lifetime of challenges that previously I had difficulty coming to terms with. Working with Carole has enabled me to productively get along with my life in a very positive manner.
Who's a REBEL SOUL?
A “REBEL SOUL” is obviously the coming together of a “Rebel” with the “Soul” in some way.
A REBEL SOUL is someone who is SEARCHING. They are SEARCHING to become Better Selves, create Better Lives, and contribute to a Better World.
And, in that SEARCH they are challenging that which is not and cultivating that which is conscious relating and creating in themselves, in their lives, and/or in the world. They can be at any place along this journey. They fall and get back up, gaining a little more consciousness as they do. However slowly they are moving, they are trying to animate their consciousness and soul one bit at a time. (For more on what I mean by “Soul”).
No matter how messy or how clouded the searching becomes with fear, survival, or ego they are engaged in the quiet (or not so quiet) rebellion of growth (recovery, learning, change, transformation), empowerment for themselves and all others, knowing, responsiveness, connectedness, cooperativeness, wholeness, and wonder.
